Celebrity makeup artist Paul Starr was found dead in his apartment in L.A. on Tuesday. He was thought to be at the age of 48.

Few details of Starr’s death were available at press time. According to one of his friend, celeb makeup artist Paul Starr hadn’t been seen or heard from in several days.

After knocking repeatedly on his door, the door was broken down and his body found. The cause of death was unknown.

Paul Starr worked in more than 20 years as a top makeup artist, extensively in fashion and film, working as a key makeup artist at fashion shows for such celebrity designers as Jean Paul Gaultier, Dolce & Gabbana, Vivienne Westwood, and Sass & Bide. Paul Starr also worked for celebrities including Mariah Carey, Angelina Jolie , and Jennifer Garner.
